About Our Business

A Matter of Style, is a full-service interior design business based in New York City. We design new and existing spaces for the interiors of commercial facilities, health care offices, restaurants, and residential spaces at reasonable rates.

Through our personal approach we analyze your needs by making each design functional, and aesthetically pleasing as we take into account safety, scale, symmetry and style for each space whether large or small.

We stand behind our commitment, these elements will not be compromised.

As we have expanded our business, we also offer special event decorating for clients in the public and private sector as well as for nonprofit and charitable organizations. We always respect our clients, provide high-quality services, and do everything that we can to meet their expectations.

Meet Our Founder
Patsy Johnson established A Matter of Style in 1988. Her career in the design industry started when she had the opportunity to design the interior of military aircraft and U.S. Navy vessels. After further practice and discipline, the many years of diverse experience ensures consistent quality and great service to her clients they expect and deserve. Her expertise includes the designing & refurbishing of Commercial, Hospitality, Health Care Office/Facilities, Restaurants, Residential and Outdoor Living Spaces.

She holds a Bachelors Degree and continued her professional Interior Design studies at the prestigious New York School of Interior Design, and has accreditation from MGM Mirage in Las Vegas. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Journal News, and Newsday Home & Garden. She has participated in the Architectural Digest Home Design Show for many years providing design consultation as well as educating consumers on the value of working with a design professional. Her portfolio is displayed at the Cooper-Hewitt AADA National Design Museum-Smithsonian Institute in New York. She's also has had the opportunity to design a Roof Top Garden for the Harlem United Show House benefiting the Harlem United Community AIDS Center of New York and she participated in the Dining By Design Table Top Design Showcase benefiting Project Self-Sufficiency of New Jersey.
